Combine Peak Fall Color With the Annual Wife Carrying Contest in Bethel

Last weekend I was a judge in the Bethel Harvest Fest Chowder Cook-off and Apple Pie Contest. We tasted 16 chowders and 30 apple pies! If you haven't visited Bethel, you're really missing out on a beautiful spot with great recreational opportunities, and with fall color fast approaching, this is a perfect time to visit. The annual Wife Carrying Contest, where guys can win their wife's weight in beer, usually coincides with peak foliage, so the weekend of October 8th and 9th would be a good weekend to go. The mountains in the Bethel area are spectacular, so leave some time for a fall drive!
