Guide Review - Outback Steakhouse

The Outback Steakhouse in South Portland lives up to the Outback reputation. The food is high-quality, prices are moderate, and service is attentive but not overbearing. My favorite appetizers are the famous Bloomin' Onion and Aussie Cheese Fries, both large enough to share. Steaks include rib-eye, filet, prime rib, New York Strip, and porterhouse, all served with soup or salad and a choice of baked or tasty garlic mashed potatoes or fresh vegetables. Chicken, ribs, porkchops, rack of lamb, seafood, and pasta entrees are also available. Desserts include cheesecake with a delectable caramel sauce and the decadent Chocolate Thunder from Down Under. The only negative: the Outback doesn't take reservations, and there was a two-hour wait.
