The 1895 brick armory with striking Neo-Gothic Romanesque architecture was renovated in 1984 and became the Regency. The 95 rooms, beautifully decorated and furnished in an elegant, traditional decor, were built around the existing features of the armory, so many rooms have unique design features that provide charm and a welcome change for the sameness of most hotel rooms. The Regency offers all the amenities you'd expect in a full-service hotel, and more, including air conditioning, restaurant and lounge, health club with jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and tanning salon, meeting facilities, complimentary airport service, wireless high speed internet access, laptop rentals, room service, valet parking--the list goes on. From the Regency, you can take a stroll through the cobbled streets of Portland's restored Victorian-era Old Port Exchange, full of quirky boutiques, specialty shops, art galleries, and great places to eat, walk to the Casco Bay ferry terminal for a cruise to one of the many islands in Casco Bay, or check out the working waterfront, all without having to get in the car. The Regency is home to the Armory Restaurant, a four-star restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Fresh seafood and home-baked breads and desserts are featured. For lighter fare, try the Armory Lounge. The hotel's ballroom is a popular wedding venue which can accommodate up to 200 guests. There are also several meeting rooms for business or other meetings on a smaller scale.
