From About.com

Julie Berry, a 23-year-old youth mentor from Gorham, Maine, is one of the contestants vying for the $1,000,000 prize on the newest Survivor series, "Survivor: Vanuatu - Islands of Fire," in the fall of 2004.

Julie, who was born in Lewiston, Maine, is an American Indian from the Maliseet tribe. She was adopted by the Berry family when she was five and grew up in Gorham, Maine, outside of Portland. Julie graduated from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Family and Community Development and a minor in Psychology (which she might be able to use to her advantage during the competition).

Julie served in the Peace Corps, where she worked with youths at risk. She enjoys soccer, softball, hockey, skiing and other outdoor activities.

Vanuatu, the Islands of Fire, is a nation of 83 islands located in the remote waters of the South Pacific near the tumultuous "Ring of Fire."
